Regarding your post about Pullman's annoyance at people using daemon, do you know if he's actually made any statements on that?
I don’t recall having heard any. But I haven’t been following the Pullman fandom closely, so that means nothing one way or the other.
All I have is a sense of what I’d do personally if I found people were borrowing for their own purposes a similar term that I’d coined: which would be to roll my eyes, sigh, and get back to business. …But I am emphatically not Philip Pullman, so I can’t say for sure. His reaction might be way more annoyed, or way less.
My point would merely be that if people were going to borrow the term so, it’d be nice if someone asked him whether he minded.
